In his honor . . . to follow in his footsteps.
Luke Cimino was an amazing young man who lost his life suddenly due to a cardiac event at the age of 17. Luke had to overcome learning challenges that were identified in kindergarten. Luke was diagnosed with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and severe ADHD. Early intervention and hard work allowed Luke to overcome his challenges and earn distinguished honor roll throughout his high school career.
Over the years, Luke learned that people with these challenges tend to be incredibly talented and gifted in many ways. Luke was passionate about a variety of different subjects from cars to WWII to golf to the British Monarchy.
Towards the end of his life, through helping with junior golf and working as a camp counselor, working with those struggling with ADHD, Luke could share what he had learned living with ADHD. He helped them learn ways to cope and be successful despite their challenges. He was a vocal advocate and understood the frustration caused by the lack of knowledge and understanding of the differences he, himself, experienced.
In his honor and to follow in his footsteps, Connect The Dots was created to celebrate students just like Luke.
